10/31/23

“10/31/23” is a heartwarming poem about Halloween. Originally written in October of 2023.

I smile big,

Small corpse in my arms,

With my lips covered in blood.

Take the picture quick,

Before the corpse moves,

Zombified human,

Green rotting skin.

Princesses and witches,

Mummies and ghosts,

Zombies and vampires,

Masked guys with chainsaws.

Some people go out tonight

To see children get scared.

Some people enjoy tonight

Because nobody questions the screams.

I like this night

Because I get to see the smile

On the little zombie’s face

When he returns home

With a bag full of candy.
